“Nabesho” is a long tradition, established 1869, soy sauce brewery in Nagahama. Its taste is sweet and mellow, adjusted to preference in Nagahama. In this tour, you can enjoy 4 different types of special soy sauce, “Soy sauce flavored sesame,” and “Wasabi flavored sesame for Sashimi,” his new product, in traditional and filled with scent of fermentation soy sauce cave. Feel and enjoy Nagahama’s local taste!

Kazutaka Yamamoto

Kazutaka Yamamoto is Nabesho’s 6th generation. He inherits taste and spirit, and try to generate something worth. He also has license of “Dr. Soy sauce”.

Doburoku tasting Happy-Taro brewery

Happy-Taro brewery is located in center of Nagahama. In this tour, you can watch and learn how Doburoku is brewed, and taste different types of Doburoku and Amazake sherbet. His Doburoku is taste mild and easy to drink to anyone, who is not good at sake. In addition to learn and taste his product, you can be experienced Nagahama’s  nature gift because of his product is made only by rice and water generated from its nature.

Kotaro Ikejima is Nagahama’s local brewer. “Linking happiness by fermentation” is his theme of life. He is known as “fermentation adviser” and hold fermentation workshops.

We offer a special plan to enjoy the “Funazushi,” said to be origin of Sushi, crafted by the long tradition restaurant "Sumimoto" paired with “Shichihonyari,” 450 years old local brewery “Tomita Sake Brewery” sake, or blended Japanese tea. Experience the harmonious fusion of flavors between the fermented taste of Funazushi and the selected local sake or tea! We also introduce the history and other fascinating aspects of Funazushi during activity.

Japanese herb experience Local lab. Konareru

You can create an original blend of Japanese herbs grown by the foot of Mt. Ibuki. First, check introduction cards featuring 11 varieties of Japanese herbs such as Mugwort, Kuromoji, and Ibuki-Jakou, and then, try their aromas. Following this, freely blend your preferred herbs together. After your blend is completed, you can enjoy it as herbal tea or use it for sauna aromatherapy. Additionally, you can try medical herb moxibustion experience.

Italian dinner with
special Funazushi dish
Biwacollage

He serve the Nagahama’s gastronomic dinner with special Funazushi dish. The restaurant is the renovated traditional Machiya. Chef Ichiyama inherited the spirits and techniques from ‘Al-che-cciano,’ one of the most famous Italian restaurant in Japan. The inventive and skilled techniques of Chef Ichiyama are remarkable, appeared in the appetizer, 'Funazushi.' This special dish, consisting of butter-sautéed Funazushi, mashed potatoes, and onions, is sure to be surprised. Please enjoy the Nagahama’s gastronomy to the full.

Machiya stay

Wa no retreat Hitoiki

Staying at 200 years historic Machiya, renovated into Hotel. This Machiya hotel is situated in the front street of Daitsuji temple, one of the symbol of Nagahama, and remained beams and walls from Edo era for feeling its historical value. This Hotel has 2 types of private sauna, one is using Japanese herb, and the other is using Shiga’s tea aroma. Have a good rest and enjoy walk around town, of course, local restaurant, too.

Approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes by the Shinkansen Nozomi from Tokyo Station to Nagoya Station. From Nagoya Station to Maibara Station, it takes about 25 minutes by Shinkansen Hikari or Kodama. Then, from Maibara Station to Nagahama Station, it's approximately 10 minutes on the JR Hokuriku Main Line.
